ABOUT DIANE AYOTT

The complex paintings and works on paper composed by Diane Ayott show strong evidence of engagement in the contemporary language of abstraction. Layered combinations of markings - dots, dashes, lines, slashes, circles, ovals and loops –contribute to sophisticated, overall spatial patterns and color shifts.  Pleasure in the visual is made clear in her work and invites repeated viewing.

Diane Ayott has exhibited extensively in New England, New York, Washington DC, and Chicago. Ayott’s paintings are represented in many private, contemporary collections. Her work is also included in public collections; most notable is the State Department Art Bank Collection in Washington, DC. This prestigious collection features contemporary works on paper. Her work has been represented since 2008, by Kathryn Markel Fine Arts in NYC, where she recently had a 2015 solo exhibition, Jeepers Creepers. At the end of 2015 Trident Gallery, in Gloucester, MA, presented Love In December, a solo exhibition of her work. Ayott holds an MFA in painting from Massachusetts College of Art in Boston and is a professor at Montserrat College of Art in Beverly, MA.
